Hello,

can somebody help me.... i billed procedure code 99214 64450 and 12051 and other ones, but my question is can i ever get procedure code 64450 paid?

please help

NOTE: Effective 1/1/09, the facility version of NCCI edits will include edits for the following categories of service: Anesthesia (00100-01999), E&M (92002-92014, 99201-99499), and MH (90804-90911). Prior to 2009, these code pairs were excluded from the facility edits.

Code 64450 is a component of Column 1 code 12051 but a modifier is allowed in order to differentiate between the services provided.

is modifier -59 (for 64450) the correct way to bill the nerve block with the surgical procedure?  i went to the ncci website to see the edits.  found an excel spreadsheet for column 1 and 2 codes.... i checked today and the page doesn't exist anymore, only mutually exclusive codes (what does that mean???)

 Mutually exclusive" codes represent procedures or services that could not reasonably be performed at the same session by the same provider on the same beneficiary.  If your going to tack on that mod. -59 you wanna make sure that your documentation supports it. If no supporting documntation then no modifier.
