Collections Agency Recommendation

(1/4) > >>

sagemb:
My client has been refraining from EVER going to a collections agency.
But my view on this is that no matter how good your billing is, you're bound to get some un-paid balances by patients.

Before I bug the doc again to hire a collections agency, what should I know about working with an outside agency? And can anyone recommend a winner collector for me?

Michele:
I have to honestly say I don't have a lot of good things to say about collections.  First of all the % of balances sent to collections that get collected is very low.  I have had some collection agencies that collected some, but for the most part it is a lost cause.  However, I do feel it is necessary, like you said no matter how good the billing is.

I don't really have one that I recommend, we use local ones.  I would ask other offices/billers in your area to see what their experience has been.  Also, you may want to ask if they report to credit reporting agencies, not all do.

i have used greenflag, flat rate collection agency. It has been pretty good.

I use Money Quest.  They are very good and very low cost (as low as 5% on recovery).  I have several providers that use the service and get a pretty good return.  I can send you the main contact if you are interested in calling her and finding out more. Just send me a message and I will get you the details.

I've been giving this more and more thought myself because I have had some good collection services and some bad and some providers like yours does not want to bother. I'm tossing around the idea of a good collection system and getting bonded and doing it myself as an add on service.. I'm just tossing the idea around right now. The bond is $5000 and the softwares can be a bit much so I need to assess if it's something I can offer and would be worth it.
