Billing Seminars
DMK:
The phone number is 800-669-3328. The woman I talked to faxed me the "scare tactics". I'd be happy to fax it to you if you're interested.
Call me stupid, but I'm still not understanding all the gobbledy gook. If i understand right, the ICD-9 has run out of code numbers so they want all providers to switch to ICD-10 to be able to further specify conditions.
I have no idea what HIPAA 5010 is.
I know I've posted this before, but why aren't the insurance companies held accountable to be sure that, at minimum, their participating providers know how to bill correctly?
Michele:
The deadline for icd 10 is Oct 1, 2013. But it is highly recommended that people do not wait until the deadline to prepare. ICD10's are very different then the ICD9's. It is important to begin preparing for the transition. At this point, insurance companies aren't responsible for making sure providers know how to bill, they are only responsible for making providers aware of their requirements and policies. That is why these companies are successful at getting people to fall for their tactics and buy into their seminars.

PMRNC:
I agree we shouldn't wait till last minute, however it's my understanding the ICD10 is not ready, they are continually making changes. I also think like everything else.. we'll see a delay with this too. What I'd like to see is the AMA lose their monopoly over CPT codes <g>

I contatcted this ffice and tey back peddled on the ICD-10 and wen on to tell me tt they were speaking on new local California Medicare billing compliance due by April 2010. LOL. I shared this with my peers and they got a kick out of it. On of my officers did mention that CMS had made a fraud mention of that company.
