Revenue codes for phlebotomy in the home by RN

(1/5) > >>

mercgirl:
Is there a specific revenue code for a Home Health RN drawing blood in the patient's home or do I use something like 300 or 309?  The contract this provider has with the insurer wants the service billed out separately from the usual nurse visit charge.  The other option I thought of was using the usual 551 for the RN visit and including the blood draw HCPCS code in element 44 on that line of service.
Which is most likely to get reimbursed?

Michele:
300 is for laboratory chemistry and 309 is for lab/other.  Neither really sounds appropriate.  I don't see a Rev code specific to a blood draw.  Seems like the 551 is the only appropriate one.  However, you can't just bill to get reimbursement, you must bill to accurately describe the service.
