Different Types of Billing Claims

Hi all, Im very new to this forum and i would like to know more about the different types of Billing Claims.

I heard of different types like Electronic Medicare, Standard, Standard Attorney, BC/BS, etc.. some more are still there.

Can any one explain what is the differnce in all these type of Billing Claims? What is difference in Primary, Secondary, teritiary Claims?

Sorry if this topic is already discussed some where else in this forum. Pls provide a link at least so that i cud refer.

the way your question is posed, you would need a book to read to get all your information.

2 typse of filing, electronic or paper

professional claims (physician, dme, etc)-hcfa 1500
technical claims (hospital, facility etc) ub-04

primary-#1 insurance which is filed first
2ndary claim, if they have a supplement, or medigap plan, that is filed secondary to insurance or medicare
tiertiary #3, third insurance filed

EX: I have medicare, BCBS, Medicaid... Medicaid will be tiertiary no matter what, but you have to determine which is primary the BCBS or the Medicare. It depends on various things this is called (cob) coordination of benefits.

You might want to take a course if you are interested in billing, and don't know the basics. There is a lot involved.

coding (basics), insurance, modifiers, bundling of services, non-covered, authorizations, etc etc

Yes there are 2 types, Electronic and Paper Claims. I know few things even differece in values between Medicare and Medicaid and other tyepes. But i heard of different types of Claims like Satandard, Standard Attorney, Electronic Group, Statement Of Accounts etc.... Can u pls mention any differences in these type of Claims, can you pls give me any reference to read. Im concerning only about hcfa 1500.
