Faxing...

Hi, quick question, I remember a while back I saw something on the forum about Fax companies....does anyone have any information for me as to where to look. I have a fax machine at home that is also my printer, but I have to use the same telephone number and I really don't want to pay to have another phone line...I thought I remembered reading that there was some kind of service where you can pay per fax...if so how does this work. Sorry, I've never really needed this before as I've only needed to fax or receive faxes on rare occassions, as I have another place of employment and could use the fax there, however, my clientele is increasing and seem to need it more frequently now...?

I use Ring Central its about $10 per month. You can fax directly from your computer and receive faxes straight to your email.

i also use ring central, and the price varies. I have to upgrade because of the volume that I send and receive, but I love it so far.
I have used 800PBX also.

I also use Ring Central - I get the unlimited plan with a phone line.
I get a local number for phone calls on which I get unlimited local and long distance. It also includes a toll free number with unlimited extensions, which I use for patient calls and then the unlimited faxing service.
So far...it's the best deal I have seen out there. My local cable company was amazed that I get all this for only $54 a month - they couldn't beat the price.

I use Efax because they have a special HIPAA compliant plan for medical providers. I still use my stand alone fax though because I find clients still want that extra personal touch.

is anyone else having trouble receiving faxes using an efax service?
I have a provider with an old style fax machine and she keeps getting error messages when she tries to fax to me. I have suggested that she alter her fax settings (as was suggested by the efax customer service when I called), but she does not want too. Instead, she is angry at me

YES, Efax does have some compatibility issues I've noticed it too. My dad can't fax me as he gets error too so he has to use my dedicated fax line.
Most of the phone companies today have their own distinctive ring now, I've not tried it here as I still have the stand alone fax and efax. but I do NOTICE some burps and efax said something about occasionally not being compatible with some fax machines?

tech support told me that old style fax users have to slow down the transmission speed on their machines. A connection that is too quick on the side of the fax machine will drop the fax while it's in electronic transit.

Yeah we tried that too, and it worked for a few people, but my dad's fax machine was fairly new. Just much safer to have the stand alone as a backup. You can get a distinctive ring and split line.

I have used Maxemail.com for years. I do not use a local number and pay $25 a year. I get all my faxes as emails. I do have to scan and then attach as an email when I send a fax so I think for a business, this would not be feasible..at least for outgoing faxes. I think I am charged 5 cents per page outgoing. Can add up.
