Using Clearinghouse
«

Hello everyone - I am new to this forum. My business is Billing Solutions for Therapists,LLC. I bill mental health only and just signed up for OfficeAlly/Practice Mate because it is free. They make their money from the payors. Just wanted any feedback about this decision. There are so many out there and they charge a fee. I also found My Client Plus which I am using for one of the therapists that does not take insurance. Am I on the right track?

I use Office Ally and Practice Mate....I love OA and PM is ok...but does not give you the ability to pull specific reports like some of the more advanced software programs...but again, it's free and you just have to work around some of it

a lot of vendors use OA, and like you Michelle I do love it. I even have my newest DME provider using PM, since he is brand new. I did tell him it isn't the most user friendly software program, but since he has just opened his doors, he loves the idea of saving a buck. What he saves on the monthly fees he can use when he gets big enough to do the data conversion to another system that will suit his purposes.

Welcome to the forum!!!
I have been using OfficeAlly for 2+ years. My wife is a psycholgist in private practice and I do all of her back office work. Their tech support is pretty friendly, so feel free to phone them if you have a question.
I had to phone them the first time I sent in a claim with an incorrect DX. They told me how to retrieve the claim so that I could enter a correction.
Best Regards,
Nu

I too am very thankful for this site!! Question for you, I am using Therapist Helper and their electronic claims service....it's going very well and so far I really like it. I've been using Therapist Helper for 4 years now, I have only been using their electonic claims for a year or so.....for electronic claims it is $10/month for each clinician, and then .27 cents for each claim I submit.....I am considering trying out office ally to keep my expenses down....do any of you suggest this? Are you having good luck with Office Ally....also, what would I do, pull up all my claims in my software and save it as a text file to download and send to office ally? Thanks for any info you can give me.

Hi Karen,
Submitting a HCFA electronically with Office Ally is free, and there is a small charge for having them mail a paper copy of the HCFA form, it's about the price of a stamp, if I remember correctly.
For me - I never have more than 75 active patient accounts at any one time, so OA is working out perfectly.
You should contact them and ask about what would be the most efficient way to convert over to their software.
I am sure you are not the only one to come to them with your particular situation.
Go to the website and look at the demo, and look around at the rest of their website.
Let us know what you decide!!!
Best,

Just a warning about ANY conversion from Therapist Helper...NOT good. I specialize in mental health and a lot of my clients HAD Therapist Helper at one time and I've learned if going to convert..start from scratch.. The closest I came to a good clean conversion was from TH to Kareo. The database behind TH is not very good. JMO

thanks for the info. I know a lot of people haven't had good things to say about therapist helper, but I've had success with it so far. I plan on keeping it at least for this year and just using the electronic claims part of office ally. Maybe change to a plan when maintenance contract expires. I think I'll look in to Xena......but thanks for the info.

We've had VERY GOOD experiences with Office Ally so far. We use more than one clearing house but Office Ally is awesome.

Do you know if you can get a list at their website of the insurance companies they do claims for? I understand they don't do some of the medicare/aid, mass health insurers and some private insurances....just want to make sure they handle most of the companies I work with?
