Therapy Coding

cbergeron:
Hello all! I have a senario in which different therapist believe different rules.
We have a kiddo who comes in for speech and physcial therapy. They both work with him together for the full hour. I was taught 2 therapists cannot bill for the same 15 minutes. However, one of our new clinicians said we can bill for both therapists for the full 4 units each. Does anyone know the correct way to bill for these? I have always split the billing-2 for ST and 2 for PT.
Thanks!
Chris

That is a weird situation. My daughter gets ST and I can't imagine her doing PT at the same time. My first thought is to agree with you, that 2 therapists cannot bill for the same 15 minutes. However, I have not run into this before. Anybody else???
Tilbrook:
When I worked in a clinic as a social worker, we were always told that two people couldn't bill for the same patient at the same time, even if we were all in a family meeting together. Sometimes there were also rules about seeing multiple providers on the same day, so I would check that also.

Thanks guys. :)
