Mental Health is good, there is a wide range to Mental health billing. I just signed in November (Substance Abuse & Mental Health) billing on the UB04. I used to bill for community health, respite care, community supports. Market to Personal Care Services if you know that billing. Its very straight forward and if you know the medicaid in your state, it can be mostly that. Because reimbursements are low, unless they are HUGE, they don't like to hire full time billers. I make about 48.75 an hr off of the lady that I bill for doing PCS. She was thrilled to get my business because she kept losing employees because she only needed part-time help. The economy bad people need full time. I personally don't like Chiro...too much work for such little pay, but if you bill a Flat Fee, it will be perfectly fine. % based......heck no!! Learn a new specialty, that will open up your marketing area. There are some specialties that hire assistants that also do the billing (like Chiro's)
Like I said, don't just look for NEW PRACTICES, the existing ones are open to moving their services. Get in the door and look at their AR. AR-recovery is one of the BEST ways to a provider's account. When you discover the losses he is getting from his current biller....he is more inclined to change over to you. When I see a majority (30% ) at the 90 day mark I work my majic on the provider.
"We can recover this money for you while your staff works the current claims. This helps them get caught up, while we get this income in for you" I tell them it can be 90 days of clean up--unless its a HUGE job. After 90 days, if the AR is still 30% over 90, he has a problem with his billers and i'm marketing to him/her for FULL PRACTICE MANAGEMENT!
