Assistant Surgery Services By a PA

 Have any of you come across any payers (government or otherwise) that require the surgeon's name and NPI # in addition to the PA's provider info when you're billing for assistant surgery services rendered by the PA?

Where do they want you to put it??

In Block 17 as "Referring Physician" along w/the surgeon's NPI #. (This is one of those payers that we only send a few dozen claims to each year - I'm hoping others don't follow their lead!!)

I haven't heard of it before but at least it's an easy fix.
