Do you have any medical background at all? (Not that it matters, I'm just trying to figure out what level you are at. Total beginner with no medical experience, new to billing but background in a medical office?)

Dear Team:
My name is Pauline, i found 2 books on amazon. Can you please take a look at these books and let me know if they are right for me. I have medical experience backround but none in medical billing and coding. I'm a patient care tech, and have been for the last 10 yrs. I make notes in the patient's chart but that's about it. The first one is called medical billing and coding demystified, by Marilyn Burgos, the second one is medical billing basic 2009 coding educational series ingenix learning reimburstment educational series. can you tell me which one is the best one to get the learning process started or is there something better, since i have no experience what so ever. Thank you for your support you're like a breath of fresh air, can you please noifiy me as soon as possible.
Thank You
Your Help is deeply appreciated.
Pauline.

I am not aware of any books specifically for workers' comp, chiropractic, for Texas.

Pauline,
It is hard for me to recommend either book since I haven't read either myself, but I did look at both products and read the customer reviews. If I were in your position, and were looking at the two products you indicated, I would go with the medical billing basic 2009 coding educational series ingenix learning reimburstment educational series. That looks more like what you are looking for. The other book I think would be too basic and just explains what billing is, not how to do it.
Let me know if you order it, I would love to know what you think.

I like and continue to buy the updates for two excellent books which have been around and are continuously updated.
"Understanding Medical Insurance" and "Insurance Handbook for the Medical Office"
I refer to them frequently. I've been getting these books since the mid 90's. You can find current and even past editions on either Amazon or Barnes & Nobles.
Another one I like is Medicare Made Easy, another one that gets frequently updated.
