Mental Health Case Management Billing
PMRNC:
Case management is a term the insurance company uses to refer to the team that oversee's the cases.. the ones that actually determine the patient authorizations. So I'm unsure what this is refereed to in regards to our end of it.
rofakamd:
if by doing case mgt you mean getting authorizations for outpt visits... typically that is done by the therapist since the ins company wants clinical information the biller does not have access too. ie pt gaf scores (level of functioning) ect... they probably should not be done by a typical biller...
with some insurances companies all they need is a phone call and no particular info or it is done online which is what i do since no clinical info is needed and get the auth for the providers..
i dont charge extra for that since it takes less than 2 minutes literally and ensures we are both paid!!
hope this helps
