skilled nursing facility
« on: July 12, 2011, 01:57:08 PM »
When billing for xrays done in the office I bill for both 26 & tc because the dr owns the equipment.  If a pt is in a SNF and comes to the office for xrays Medicare denies the tc stating that Medicare part A is responsible for payment.  Is there anyway to be reimbursed for the technical fee or is it just a write off?  Your help would be much appreciated!  Thanks Heather

I haven't run into this, but when billing for global in regards to xrays don't you just bill the xray code with no modifier to indicate global?  And if the SNF pt comes to the office and you bill the xray code with no modifier would that be denied?  Maybe the problem is you are billing with the TC modifier.
