Billing software question

(1/2) > >>

laceyx08:
Hi I am shopping around for medical billing software and was just wondering what type of things I should look for in it. I'm going to talk to a rep tomorrow about one and I wasn't sure what type of questions I should ask.

Michele:
If I were looking I would want to be able to do a demo.  Not watch them do a demo but be able to play with it on my own a bit.  I would be asking about electronic capabilities such as can I submit thru any clearinghouse I choose, or am I limited to the clearinghouse they push (most push a specific clearinghouse and I rarely use the one they suggest for cost reasons).  I would want to see the report capabilities.

Those are the first things I check.  Make sure the system is easy to navigate, and that it can do what I need.  Then I consider cost vs what I'm looking for.  I do not go for the cheapest, but I consider what I'm going to pay vs what I'm getting.

Hope that helps.

PMRNC:
Also, I think one of the biggest mistakes made by billing companies in the start-up phase is that they don't evaluate their software for the LONG haul.. their feelings are mostly due to costs and thinking they can upgrade later..when in reality conversions are costly and timely.. better to get a software for long term than just short term based on cost.

Thank you guys. Do you guys know anything about Office Ally? That's one of them I have been looking at because it's free.

Michele:
Linda has a great point, don't go cheap based on now.  You will regret it later.
