Brand New Diagnostic Testing Center Opening UP

I received a call from a client that is opening a Diagnostic Testing center.   He will be billing Medicare Claims.  He applied for his provider Id#.

He was told by another billing company that Medicare will put him on an 180 day probation where his billing will be reviewed because he is a new provider.   Is this true?   I have never heard fo such a thing.  They also want to know how long it takes for Medicare to process his application.   

Need help with this one, i have no idea about this 180 day probation rule, if in fact it is true.......

Well, I've never heard of them actually saying there is a 180 day hold but I do know that right now with HIPAA 5010 transactions new enrollments are experiencing a delay.

It also depends on the state he is in since the carriers vary by state.  Some are quicker than others.

Right, and because of version 5010, many have announced months ago there wouldn't be any new enrollments processed due to this.
