Urinalysis Test performed but sent out to a lab for an OUT PATIENT Facility

Hi,  I need to know how to bill for a urine test that test for 12 illegal drugs.  However, the outpatient facility performs the test and send it out to a lab.   What CPT do i use and or Rev codes as well?    I'm not even sure if they can  bill the insurance company for it.  If anyone knows the answers to these questions please respond asap....

Are they doing a urine dip?  We have providers that dip for 12 drugs, but it is read instantly when the dip is done.  If they are sending it out to a lab it can't be the urine dip.

they collect the urine and send it out to a lab

Michele:
If they are simply collecting the urine and sending it out then you should only be billing for the specimen handling and collection not the urine test for the drugs.
