First I guess it depends on what state you are in and if % based biling is even allowed by providers. Aside from that I'd have to say it's still hard to determine if it's a fair pricing structure because it's based only on reimbursement rather than on your time. This is why I don't like % based billing. Only you would be able to know if it was fair reimbursement because again, the work isn't dependent upon your time but rather what the reimbursement is and then so your getting less money for patient payments even though the work involved (statements, etc) is still time consuming. It's also going to depend on what kind of practice this is, certainly some would think 8% too high for a surgeon but might be just right for a larger family practice.
