Did you receive any type of training or support from your software vendor, that's where you would need to find out the answer. I always post capitation payments to each patient's account and depending if the patient needed a claim filed (some HMO's require an actual claim and some don't) I will then post to that claim. I also always make sure the capitation is identified as a capitation pmt and using the carrier name as well such as BCCAPPMT
