New cleint
« on: July 25, 2012, 11:21:53 PM »
I have a new client and she needs me to find out some answers for her by calling medicaid but I have not registered with them yet do I need to do that first or can I just call and ask the questions. Will they give me the information or do I need my client NPI #. The questions are is my client still registered with them and can we resent two of her clients, and several others that I need to do then we can start billing for my client the patients she saw before she stopped her practice. I hope this makes sense I am still learning about the terminology.  Hope

You don't have to register with Medicaid yourself, however you will need all of the providers information so your questions can be answered.  I would have the basic info on hand when I call like Medicaid provider number, NPI & tax id.

What CMS form are you talking about?

I was told I had to fill out a CMS form to register with medicaid but I am not sure which form and by what you are saying I do not have to. Thank you.  Hope

The provider must be registered and contracted with Medicaid.  I would suggest that you have all of her identifying information handy and call Medicaid to get all your questions answered.  If there is something you need to do state specific then they will advise you.  In my state, billers don't have to be registered with Medicaid.
