New Laboratory billing questions, looking for billers
« on: August 01, 2012, 02:44:43 AM »
I'm a Nurse Practitioner in PA and myself and a partner have decided to open our own laboratory.  We are in the process of CLIA certification and have everything in place to be a highly complex lab, (medical director pathologist, etc).  We have bought a highy complex chemistry analyser ( the biolis 24) and we will be doing testing for drugs of abuse mostly, at least at first.  We have secured an account that would like us to run 400-550 12 panel drugs screens per month for them.  We would like to run the tests quantitatively, but could also do a qualatative analysis.  My question, since I haven't hired a biller yet, is 1. what codes to use to bill Pennsylvania medicaid?  I've become quite good familiar with the codes.  We are using a highly complex machine using immunoassay technology, no urine dips. 2.  Can I bill MA for the quantitative testing and what codes to use. 3. if we can't to the quantitative, we'd like to do qualitiative, again what codes would I use?  G0431, 80104?  Obviously we are trying to maximize profit but want to do it legally.  Any input is appreciated and if anyone would like to bill for us, we're looking for someone.  thanks,

Michele

The code may vary from insurance carrier to insurance carrier depending on their requirements.  I am not familiar with PA Medicaid.  I would recommend contacting them or going to their website.  NY has the provider manuals available online.  Check the PA Provider Manual to see the requirements.

Good luck!
