I am terrible at cold calling! But, what I would recommend is that you have something to go in with. For example, if there is a recent change in an insurance in your area, or something you could be informative about. For example, a few years ago Medicare had made a big change in how Chiropractic claims were billed. We made an informational flyer, with our info on it of course, and cold called every chiro in the county. It was a great way to get them talking and they didn't feel like we were salesmen. We gave them the info, talked a little, got them comfortable. We ended up with one account that way. Another thing is to bring a dish of candy, or something else creative. You can do a candy dish pretty inexpensively. Dollar store. Then you can break the ice. Say you brought them an afternoon pick me up. Many of the front desk staff are trained not to let anyone thru so you want to get them to like you.
