Temporary Billing Project

Excited to have a temporary billing A/R project to work on!  The office (large group) is 90 miles from me. They do not want to meet me, just want me to get started right away....I will send contract, BAA, etc....

is faxed signature ok for a contract?

any other advice? My first "far away" project. I am excited!

I'm going to give you MY NON legal.. blurb..

I've dealt with and deal with a few clients I never met or met much later. Yes, fax signature is ok, just be sure the contract states the fax/electronic signature means same as original. Your attorney should be able to clarify that for you in your contract just to be sure :)

I would however recommend a face to face, at least shortly after you get started. This is for many reasons. The long distance clients I signed up I made sure we had met within at least 30 days from time we signed up. A good idea is to deliver your first invoice and reports and sit down with them and his staff.  This sort of cements the relationship for you.  I've seen many providers desperate and because of their willingness to get started right away there may have been a motive to utilize my services as a temporary solution.. Not trying to discourage you.. just make you aware that it happens.

I use Echosign (owned by Adobe now) for all my clients who I don't meet face-to-face and they do electronic signatures it works that much better sign Adobe acquired them and works perfectly with my Adobe Pro X software. I don't require to meet my clients who live too far to meet with me. I use Goto Meeting to video conference. I only accept faxed signatures temporarily, if I have a client who prefers this to an electronic signature. They have to send me 2 copies (both signed by them) in the mail, then I sign and send back 1 copy or vice verse. It's such a hassle (we still scan it in our system), but some clients prefer this, but I don't start any work until we've both signed if they require me to go this way.

I use to use Docusign, but once we started getting contracts from Aetna, UHC, Cigna, etc via Echosign I switched, and have been very happy. There are tons of electronic signature services, just find the one that best works for you. It's still your contract and as Linda stated you need to put provisions in that state the electronic signature is as good as a handwritten one same with fax.
