Billing > Facility Billing
What is bill type 0851 ?
MJAbiller:
'ello, 'ello! ;D
I'm billing a facility claim for physical therapy charges, which I often do...but the type of bill is "0851" which I've never seen. It was billed to Medicare as primary so is it a Medicare thing? I'm asking because Medicare paid in error as primary....we now have auto insurance info & are billing them. Grrr! haha ::)
Thank you! I hope I made sense =p Long day!

PMRNC:
0851 is a Revenue Code - 0851
9TH VALUE CODE/AMOUNT MISSING OR INVALID
Not sure this helps you since they paid. I would just make copy of EOB, refund Medicare with a note explaining the refund and then bill the auto carrier.

Pay_My_Claims:
my question is, how did medicare pay in error without you filing the claim to them first????
MJAbiller:
We did bill them first because that's all the patient gave us, so the system billed Medicare, Medicare paid (I don't know why since it's got an E code indicating a car accident), but noooow we have the auto insurance...
And it's not a Rev code I'm asking about. 0851 is in box 4 of the UB04, type of bill. Thanks though :)
Maybe it was just a wacky coding error, I don't know, but that's why I'm here ;D
Michele:
Type of bill codes are only suppose to be 3 digits so maybe that's the problem. Type of bill 851 is for Special Facility or ASC Surgery, critical access, admit thru discharge.
Hope that helps! :)
