There are new rules for filing 2013 for home based businesses. As of this writing (Dec 2013), the IRS publication #587 has not been updated to reflect these changes.

Ah I see it now.

YOU can choose which method.. but you must choose one method.. I dunno seems like a little smoke and mirrors to me. simpler may not mean "best deduction"
