I was wondering if anyone just starting out only did claims processing, and patient billing?  I am currently working as a full-time employee for a specialists doing all aspects of billing & coding. I am considering just starting off marketing as a claims processor and patient billing to get started, because that is something that I can do in the evenings when I get home from my full-time job.  I only want to do that until I can build up enough cash flow to quit my current job, and take on all aspects of billing & coding.  Any suggestions would be a big help!  ;D

Merry:
How would you do patient statements if you didn't follow up on the claims? Not sure that I understand.

kristin:
I am with Merry...who will do follow-up on denied claims? And who will be doing insurance eligibility/verification?

If you are going to start a billing company and only do claims only processing, you will have a very very difficult time in marketing. It makes no sense for a provider to hire an outsourced billing company to just process claims anymore.. 15 years ago, maybe.. It's just not cost effective anymore.

From all of the comments here, it doesn't look like its going to be easy for someone like me who struggles financially to start off slow while keeping my full-time job with a guaranteed income. I will figure something out though, because I'm a fighter, and I will not give up on my goals.
On another note does anyone of you know what billing companies in Florida charge?  Do they charge a flat fee for all of the services they provide or just a percentage of what revenue is collected for the provider?  If I could just get 1 practice with maybe 3 doctor's I could probably replace my income that I'm making now at my full-time job and quit.
I really haven't a clue though, so any advice on this would help me make a better decision of the type of game plan I need to come up with.

Thank you! :)
