--- Quote from: BoFlower on November 20, 2014, 10:32:53 PM ---Hello Michele, thank you so much for replying back to my post. Although I ideally want to become a coder, billing would be my next option. I believe some jobs have people intermediate between the two so having information from someone who is actually in the field would really help. If I were to rephrase my questions, would you answer them?

Revised Questions:
1.) What are your typical duties like at your job?

Inputting pt demographics, entering encounters, entering payments, dealing with denials, submitting appeals, running aging reports, checking on unpaid claims, sending patient statements

2.) What type of insurance claims do you generally process- CMS-1500 or UB-04?

Mostly CMS 1500, some UB 04

3.) How did you go about becoming a biller?

I worked for a major insurance carrier and decided to start a billing service

4.) What would you say is the most challenging aspect of your job?

Dealing with difficult providers

5.) What do you think is the best way of dealing with insurance companies when trying to process denied claims?

Persistence and keeping notes on all action taken

6.) What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Making sure providers are reimbursed all that they are entitled to for their work.  Many think that drs are rich or overpaid.  I don't agree.

7.) What do you think are the most important qualities a biller should have?

Attention to detail

8.) What are the most important resources a biller should have?

A Brain (truly, I am not joking)

I would be very appreciative if you are able to help. Please email me or reply back if you would like to.
