Average set up fee.

How much do medical billing companies charge on average for a one time set up fee and what does it consist of?

Michele:
This varies greatly from company to company.  Personally we do not charge a set up fee and never have.  I do see why some do though.  It is a lot of work setting the account up.  We do have a contract for a year though and always intend to keep clients longer by providing excellent service so we do not charge a set up fee.  Usually a set up fee includes any costs that might be incurred such as clearinghouse fees or PMS fees.
