billing software
atwmedbilling:
has anyone used practice mate for there billing software? How do you like it ?
What billing software do you use and why ?
I'm looking for a billing system that I can use that is good but doesn't cost a lot but I don't want to use a bad software then have to change later I want my focus to be on my clients not my software . Looking for a affordable billing software .

What kind of practice are you billing for? I use Medisoft and had my providers switch to it 8 years ago. Cost depends on how many people will be using the software. I like that it is linked with scheduling so that way the front office can see if patients have a balance and can collect. I can also search for future appointments and put notes in for front office to collect. My providers are gynecologists.
PMRNC:
Are you a billing company? If so..what are your reasons for wanting ONE billing system? Why not be diversified and be available to your clients system that is in existence? If you have the experience you can pretty much work with any system and it's a win win situation as you don't have to worry about client conversion, time lost for payments, setup, etc. Over the many years I've been doing this I've seen so many billing companies lose potential clients by forcing them on to their system.

I agree with Linda...if your clients already have a system in place and you can access it remotely, or if it is cloud based, learn to use their system. That saves the hassle of having to switch over to a new system, paying for it, potentially disrupting cash-flow, and a host of other things that can and usually do go wrong.
To put it another way, if I was looking for a billing company, I wouldn't sign on with one that wasn't willing to work with the PM system we already have in place in my office.
If for some reason they don't have a system in place, or are looking to make a switch, that is a different story.

I have used practice mate for a client who had already started out. We had a 6 month contract and we termed at the end of the contract due to the software. I personally think Practice Mate is very cumbersome and difficult to maneuver around in. I would say it takes 3 - 4 times longer to accomplish something in PM than it does in other softwares. (You get what you pay for!)
I agree with Linda and Kristin, if the client has a software that they are using we will work with theirs. If they don't, or would prefer we do it from our office completely then we use Lytec. It's good to be diversified. We have clients that will only use a BS that will work from their system, and we have clients who just want to hand over the info and not be involved. Some of those clients have PM systems, but they still prefer we use our own. Some of our clients have no PM system at all.
