Hi!
I did Invisalign from Feb 2016-December 2016. I paid in full before the treatment started in January 2016, less the $2000 that my insurance covers.
In September of 2017 I changed jobs, and consequently changed insurance. A few months later, my ortho calls me because they tried to submit a claim to my insurance and were told it is not an active policy. They asked for my new insurance, or a credit card so I could pay the remaining balance.
I know that my insurance was getting billed monthly when I was doing Invisalign, because I would receive the EOB in the mail a few weeks after each appointment.
My questions is: is this a billing error on the orthodontist part? Why would they still be billing me nearly a year after treatment has ceased? Shouldn’t the billing period be during my actual treatment? This doesn’t seem like it was billed “in a timely manner.”
Since they are in-network, are they responsible for billing my insurance? If they are not responsible, shouldn’t I have received a bill so I could submit the claim myself?
They don’t seem extremely confident and I suspect they are just trying to see if they can get the money out of me before they write it off. Am I responsible to pay this?
