Do NPs have to have an MD admit a patient to a hospital on their behalf to credential with BCBS in NY or can they use a hospitalist group if they do not have any hospital privileges?
Thank you for your help!

NY Blue cross blue shield does credentialing based on information completed in CAQH UPD. If you could look at that portal, under Hospital affiliations section, you can only see a space for the NP to furnish an individual's name and Not a name of a hospitalist group.
So, it should only be an MD's name who covers for this NP. Hope this clarifies.
