Hi all,
I bill for a small group of 2 (husband and wife.) They are retiring in a few months. Other than notifying insurance companies and patients and bringing all open accounts to a zero balance, is there anything else that needs to be done?
thanks!

Make sure you have a list of all patients last date seen. Where are the medical records going and if someone needs a copy of there records who do they contact?
When I closed a practice that is the one thing I was told to make sure I had written up and let the patients know who to contact for copies.

good one! thanks, Billing2!

Patients should get a letter ASAP notifying them of this change.
And as I have just learned from another board member, make sure it is noted that any refills they have left will not be able to be filled once the practice closes as most practitioners will cancel their DEA license, malpractice etc.

Do not try to do anything else than the billing and it's STRONGLY advised that the clients have legal advice as well as consulting with their malpractice insurance to make sure they have adhered to all exiting rules/laws.
