: can i collect the medicare deductible if it went against our charges?

I am wondering if I could collect the medicare deductible that went against what I billed for our psychiatrist.   Ex. I billed $40.00 -- medicare allowed $15.48 --  and $15.48 was applied to the deductible.  We received $0 from Medicare.

Medicare then forwarded to Medicaid and they paid $10.00.   Can I collect the balance $5.48 from the patient?   Would I need to send a bill?   Thanks in advance for any input :)

What state are you in?  It really depends on your state laws and if Medicaid says the patient is responsible.

I am not familiar with IL state laws regarding Medicaid.  Do you know if you are able to bill Medicaid eligible patients?  In NY the answer would be no.

Someone in another thread answered a similiar question about Illinois, I think it was Karen, she said no you can't collect for Medicaid patient in Illinois.
