: Provider herself is aging
: barb2512 August 11, 2023, 04:48:05 PM
I have a provider that is in her 70's and not keeping up with her paperwork. I am wondering if you have any experience helping a provider close a practice because of age or infirmity. I am concerned about our responsibility and our liability if we know her records are falling into disrepair.

Any feedback or insight is appreciated.

Hello-
I'm in a similar situation, though not quite as serious. I can offer 2 suggestions:

1. Encourage your provider client to seek professional help such as her financial advisor or attorney in closing her business.

2. Your liability is generally limited to the terms and conditions spelled out in your service agreement. If it does not address closing her business, I would advise you don't get involved - no matter what your feelings are. Hope this helps.
