Hi,
I have just started my medical billing company in May 2009 and have had no luck in landing that first client. I have many years of experience in Medical Billing and am very knowledgeable of the profession. I have tried to do bulk mailings to providers attempting to market my website; but have been unsuccessful at this time. I am mostly looking to market my billing services to Durable Medical Equipment Providers at this time and it's just been a daunting task!
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can market my services better or have any leads that I may contact at least to get my business off the ground.
You may visit my site to see what we offer and if anyone has any constructive criticism on the site that will be welcomed as well. My website address is: www.optimapointmedicalbilling.com
Thanks in advance!

First, let me say welcome and embrace you as I am also a DME biller!!! Getting your first client can be quick, or it can be a long wait. Hang in there, and please feel free to contact me. I will email you my reviews on your site privately. Overall I think its very well done!!

Thanks alot Charlene! I appreciate your support and embrace. All of my planning has been tight and getting everything started was not too bad; but it has been a struggle trying to land that client. I look forward to dialoguing with you more!
Thanks again!

You are more than welcome.....What type of DME do you generally do, and where are you located???

Shoes, DTS (Diabetic Testing Supplies), EDpumps, Chairs, is where I have the most extensive knowledge as it relates to billing; but I have done many specialities. I am currently in Richmond, VA

2 Months really isn't long at all so don't get discouraged. I've seen companies take as long as a year to get that first client. You have to be persistent. If you have done a large mailing you might want to change it around and do another, when something doesn't work, try again or go back and make changes. Also follow-up is KEY!

Thanks alot! I appreciate the motivation.

Ok, I do the same except for EDpumps (not!!)

I hear you Charlene! :D

I just gave my card(s) to a DME vendor to hand out to clients who need billing services

Some advice my business counselor gave me as I re-start my midwifery billing business:
1. Join online groups and participate in appropriate conversations. For example, I have joined every Yahoo group that has to do with midwifery, then lurk until an insurance question comes up. Then I respond. By responding, you set yourself up as an expert in your field. I don't know how many DME groups there are out there.....
2. Join local business groups or provider groups and attend their meetings. Get yourself out there and be visible.
3. Publish articles in appropriate periodicals or even a newspaper that is where your providers are. I know our local papers regularly spotlight new businesses in the area.
4. I am sending monthly e-newsletters to a large group of midwives. It has a short business article, a billing article, something political (with all the healthcare reform in the news lately, this isn't hard) and a comic. Again, you are establishing yourself as experienced, knowledgable, an expert, etc., etc. It is a short one-page e-newsletter, but it gets my name out there.
Be persistent! It will pay off.
