Hello All,
Can't we send secondary insurances electronically? Do we still need to print and send? I thought everything was being sent electronically now?
Thank you,
Diana.

yes you can send secondaries electronically. Do you use a clearinghouse? If so, you would need to set up secondaries with them.
-
The only issue would be the secondary needing a copy of the primary EOB with the claim.
-
IF YOU ARE SET UP WITH A CLEARINGHOUSE, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SIGN UP FOR THEM TO SEND YOUR SECONDARIES. YOU WOULD ALSO HAVE TO SIGN UP FOR ELECTRONIC EOB'S WITH CLEARINGHOUSE. I KNOW THAT NOT ALL CLEARINGHOUSES ARE THE SAME, BUT THE DIFFERENT ONES I HAVE USED IN THE PAST OFFER THESE. I WOULD CONTACT YOURS TO SEE WHAT THEY OFFER AND THEIR FEE FOR THESE SERVICES.

The payment info from the primary is transmitted electronically so there is no need to attach the paper copy but like RDMoore said, you have to make sure that you can submit secondaries thru your clearinghouse.

Even when we send the primary EOB with the secondary claim on paper they sometimes kick it out saying they need the primary EOB! Frustrating. You ladies did teach me to write the number of pages included on the top of the claim, and that has helped IMMENSELY!
-
You can also write in red ink on top of claim--EOB ATTACHED.
-
I always did that, but for some reason also adding the # of pages works more often.
