I have a LPC intern that will fall under supervision with our Medical Psychologist. My question is, Is there a modifer that is required for medicare on therapy codes like 90834 and 90837?

So the billing is going out under the supervising psychologist? I am not 100% sure but I thought that when the LPC was an intern the billing could go out under the supervising doctor as long as all of the supervising criteria was met. I didn't think there was a modifier. Hoping someone else knows for sure!

I THOUGHT THAT AS WELL, MICHELLE. I WAS READING SOMETHING ABOUT IT, BUT I COULD HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD.
IF YOU HAVE AN ACTUAL LPC (LICENSED) IS THERE A MODIFIER FOR THIS AS WELL SINCE MEDICARE DOES NOT COVER LPC'S? THEY STILL FALL UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE MEDICAL PSYCHOLOGIST RIGHT? OR IS THERE A MODIFIER FOR THEM ON THE CPT CODE?

I am not aware of any modifier for this.

I don't think you can bill Medicare even under supervision since they do not cover LPC's.
