Hi Everyone,

Can anyone please tell me how do you get paid within the global period of IRC (infrared coagulation) procedure of 90 days for follow up bandings which physician performs every 2 weeks after IRC procedure? Do you use a special modifier or how exactly you handle this scenario?

IRC CPT Code = 46930 (Global Period 90 Days)
Banding CPT = 46221 (Global Period 10 days)

If the bandings are a direct result of the IRC, then I don't see how you can bill/get reimbursed for them, as they would fall within the global of the IRC. Depending upon the insurance, the bandings would have to fall outside of "routine/normal post-operative care" to be reimbursed.
