Is anyone experienced with coding for Vision Therapy? My doctor (Optometrist) has a separate Vision Therapy business. That patients I need help with are the TBI patients. I just started here a few weeks ago and I don't believe they are billing properly! I have tried researching it, it just seems there is not a lot of information about Vision Therapy out there. This is not Low Vision Therapy, this is Vision Restorative Therapy, like I said all the patients we bill insurance for are TBI patients.
Each therapy session they are a billing:
92065 - Orthoptic and/or Pleoptic training, with continuing medical direction and evaluation. This code I am fine with.
AND
2 97530 (a 15 minute code) - Therapeutic activities, direct (one on one) patient contact by the provider (use of dynamic activities to improve functional performance).
My question is...can we bill a 97xxx code if the techs are NOT OT/PT or Assistants? Does the Vision Therapist (tech) need specific training, etc. I want to make sure I approach the doctor with the correct information, he has been misled so many times in the past due to ignorance.
Thank you sooo much!

Thank you so much! :) I did lots of research Friday and Saturday and that was one of the things I did find. There's so much conflicting information. I've contacted a few sources, hopefully they will be able to give me a bit more insight. Thanks a ton!
