Has anyone done e-mail marketing?
If so what do you think about it.

I've never tried it, but I know personally, I don't pay a lot of attention to email marketing offers I get.

delete  -  delete   -   delete

However, it's probably an inexpensive method, so you don't got much to lose.

I've done light email marketing but I don't send a mass email to a lot of addresses.  If you send someone something its a lot better to send an individual email to each person and make sure you refer to them by name.  I've also had some offices request I fax or email them information which I will do and also drop something in the mail as well.  I am a DELETE DELETE DELETE person also when it comes to my emails so keep it as direct to that contact as you can and forget to follow up with other methods.

Personally I don't do it. It's fine if you speak with a provider and you are following up via email but as an initial contact I say NO. First impression's are too strong to risk with email marketing. Use the internet more efficiently by having a website to refer potential clients to in your direct mail. You want to be careful though and make sure your website is professional, not to much bling, not too bright because you could actually chase a provider away. I had a small company send me a really nice letter and biz card offering computer repairs and home network setup, etc. It just so happened I was in need of one so I went on over to their website and was horrified... scrolling text, blinking art, bold and gross colors and well I didn't get beyond the first page and he didn't get a call from me.

JMO If you are going to use the internet, do so WISELY!

I agree with that Linda.  Some websites are just too busy and make me feel like I have vertigo jumping all over the page.
