The AT modifier is listed on our local Medicare website in their Modifier Guide. I would give you the link, however, as of today 9/1/08, our local Medicare carrier switched and they took down the website. The new carrier's site isn't up and running yet from what I can tell.
I did find a chiropractic website that also talks about the AT modifier. You can view that at http://www.amerchiro.org/content_css.cfm?CID=987
I'm glad you have found our books so helpful. Please let us know what you think of "Secrets to Signing Your First Dr."
Thanks

Hi Margie,
I'm not sure what's happening, but the confirmation must be made or the program doesn't allow us to send the newsletter. I assume you are trying from the Medical Billing Live site. Try signing up at this link instead. It's the same newsletter, but we have two different sign ups. Let me know if it doesn't work. http://www.solutions-medical-billing.com/ ( you'll have to copy and paste. the sign up is on the top right side.)

On September 1st some of the Medicare carriers switched. Our local just switched to NGS. Anyway, it seems that many of the websites are messed up since 9/1/08. I'm not sure why it would matter. Did you try to link I gave below? http://www.amerchiro.org/content_css.cfm?CID=987
That had some information on it.
Also, I found the website for Highmark Medicare (PA). Here is a link to an article in the LCD's that talks about chiropractic services.
http://www.highmarkmedicareservices.com/policy/partb/z1/z6k.html
That should help.

Hi Michele,
I went on the site you gave me to check out Highmark medicare, when you get onto the site they want you to click on a user agreement , what should I do? do you have to be a member?
margemib ???
-
No you don't have to be a member. You just click on "I accept". It comes up everytime you visit the site. If you just click the I accept you go right into the site.

I called Medicare to find out about the AT modifiers and the modifier guide on there site for Chiropractors, she said you have to be a provider and login with your number to get this info is this true? because as a biller how do you go about this? She said it is not open to everyone.

I went to the website and clicked 'I agree' and went right in. I visit Medicare sites all over the US and I've never had a problem accessing the info I needed to.
Did you try clicking on the 'I agree' at the site
http://www.highmarkmedicareservices.com/policy/partb/z1/z6k.html
It should take you right in.

I did get in but for the info like modifiers you have to be a provider, what happened I checked out the site and could not find the modifiers for chiro, so I called Medicare and that is what was said. Maybe when I am in the site I am doing something wrong did you find the modifier guide?

Hi Marge,
I have the CMS modifier manual downloaded at the office. If you will email me at patbaylon1@comcast.net I will be happy to forward it to you.
Thanks,

Margie,
As the AT is a medicare modifier you can also find it in the HCPCS Coding Book. I did know this neither until I found it. Look under Modifiers if you have a HCPCS Coding Book.
