: Medicare No-Show fees
: DPlace May 31, 2022, 01:44:31 PM
I was told by my provider whom attended an insurance webinar, which the insurance plan "follows Medicare guidelines" and was told that we CAN NOT charge a Medicare client a no-show fee.
I am not finding anywhere on the CMS website where this information is.
I know we can not charge the INSURANCE for the no-show fee, but am wondering if it is true that we can not charge the client this.

Thank you

Our financial policy that every patient signs states that if they no show, it is a $50 charge, billed directly to the patient. If the same patient no shows 3 times, they are subject to dismissal from the practice. This is all totally legal. You are correct that you can't bill the insurance, but you absolutely can bill the patient.
