We are using a trial computer software that provides psychological testing. The rep states that if the Tech gives the test all we need to do is print the report and put in the chart that the provider will interpret at the follow up visit and then dictate a note and bill 96101. The report is a componet. I get that but he states this is a interpretation also........Does anybody have any input......

Not sure I understand your question...
96102 Psychological testing (includes psychodiagnostic assessment of emotionality, intellectual abilities, personality
and psychopathology, e.g. MMPI, and WAIS), with qualified health care professional interpretation and
report, administered by technician, per hour of technician time, face-to-face.

tech is providing and report is printed. Nothing else is done. Then patient comes back in for F/U and provider bills 96101. This is incorrect as far as I see because he did not interpretate this test ATOS so can he bill the interpretation at F/U visit?
-
No, he can't charge additional with the followup, it must all be included with the 96102 as it includes interpretation and report (which yes, can be computer generated)
-
both 96102 and 96101 include interpretation (just to be clear)
-
I believe they do.
