We recently had a claim rejected because the patient was hospice. When we filed the claim, we didn't know the patient was hospice. The provider says the old biller would resubmit with a modifier - but they didn't know which modifier - and the claim would be paid. What modifier could they be talking about??

If the services provided were unrelated to the Hospice care/condition you can use modifier GW. There are two modifiers for hospice:
GV for attending physician not hospice
GW- service unrelated to terminal condition
