Guys,
Does anyone know the best way to remotely access a provider's software for billing? Other than "GOTOMYPC" desktop sharing..etc
I have a provider (Physical Therapists) who really wants me to do their billing but remotely access their computer. And No they do not have a web based software.
Please Help
Thank you

We use both Go to my PC and Log Me In. Log Me In has a free service that works ok.

LogMeIn also has the ability to Log On and Off the host computer which is a HIPAA requirement.

Thank you Linda and Michelle. This helps alot.

I would recommend setting up a Remote Desktop Connection. Its a feature thar is included within Windows. Although it doesn't cost any money to use, you may have to have an IT set it up. Unlike logmein.com or gotomypc.com, it allows 2 or more people to work on the same computer. You could also try TeamViewer.

There should NOT be two people working on same computer at same time and certainly not in the PM software.. Audit tracking requires separate login's for audit control as well as HIPAA requirements. Logmein.com will allow another user to use their own login at same time, but not ONE login for all users.

Just a thought, while it is easy to do, if you are simply using your remote access that comes with Windows with no additional security that isn't a secure method for connecting remotely.
-
We've actually switched completely over to logmein for the security of having to login to the host computer.

What I like about Logmein is you get a true audit trail which again is part of HIPAA compliance. You can also reboot the host computer, so far they are the only company that has that as far as I know.

Yes! I like that feature. I was hesitant to switch as I was so used to Gotomypc but I had some employees that I allowed to use the logmein. Then I finally decided to try it and I like it better. ;D
