Hi! My dr and a couple other dr's have a rotation for being on call on weekends. We are not sure what to do if he see's another dr's post-op patient. I know we can bill it if the diagnosis is different from the surgery diagnosis, but what if it's not? If it is just a problem realted to the surgery, can my dr bill for it? We are pretty sure you can't, but wanted to get some other feedback. Thanks!

If the patient is being seen solely for the same diagnosis as the procedure, you cannot bill for the visit. As you stated, if there is a different diagnosis then you can bill the visit.
