: Behavioral Health outpatient clinic facility vs. non facility
: medpsych December 24, 2012, 10:42:08 PM
we are an outpatient Behavioral health clinic and have providers as M.D.s, psychologists, social workers.
Our billing has been outsourced and now we are trying to bring it in house. I want to understand:

the difference between facility and non-facility billing? As an outpatient, what should I be billing as?
What is the difference between par vs. non par?
We have 2 locations in 2 different counties, do I need to put an identifier for the place of service, besides the different addresses?

BTW, we are looking for an experienced biller.

I have to assume you have someone with some or at least limited billing experience to answer these questions.

Facility charges are billed on UB92, professional charges are billed on CMS 1500
As outpatient, you will bill any professional charges on the CMS 1500  and facility on UB92
participating means you have a contract with a specific carrier, non participating means you do not have contract and do not participate
Your locations will be setup to distinguish which location the Place of Service is rendered and you will have a pay to address as well.

Curious as to where you are located?  Are you still looking for an experienced biller?
