: group therapy vs. family therapy

when an insurance policy does not cover family therapy, with or without patient present, is there a different code that can be used?   Say there are 2 families that the patients have same diagnosis, could you use a group code if both families are present for a "training, educational" group?

I'm not sure what the requirement is for the number of people that must be present for it to be group therapy.  It's an interesting solution though.  I'm just not sure of the legality of it.  Anybody else have any thoughts on this?

No, if a carrier does not cover group therapy, there is no getting around it.
