We have a pt that is on w/c. We completed evaluation and now have approvals to see pt for weekly therapy and medication visits. We have received another approval from pts w/c to do a different evaluation. EX: first evaluation for spinal cord stimulator trial-(completed and is actually in therapy now) then, w/c decides they want another evaluation for driving. (different tests, etc)
My question is, Is it legal for w/c carriers to hold payment on an approved service that has no bearing on the entirely separate second evaluation? If so, what steps should I take?

If the services were approved, then they should be reimbursed in a timely fashion. They shouldn't be able to 'hold claims' on a separate authorization.
