Does anyone know if Medicare accept paper claims? I’ve tried several times to contact them and no one could give me a yes or no answer.
-
They do not accept paper claims unless the provider filed for a exemption. I'm not even sure if they still grant exemptions any more.
-
Ok thank you.
-
Exemptions are still granted, so long as the office meets the requirements, and sends in supporting documentation.

Hi Kristin,
I am curious to know about the requirements that the provider should meet in order to be able to submit paper claims. I wasn't aware that there may be exceptions. Could you please elaborate a little in detail or guide me on where I can find that list of requirements? Thank you.

Here is a copy of the waiver form for our MAC, all MAC's have their own form:

By Googling "ASCA waiver requirements" you should get more information.
For my office, we qualify as a small practice, and we have to send in payroll records proving we have fewer than 10 FTE. I get the waiver whenever Medicare notifies me that our existing waiver is up for renewal, simply because there are rare times when we need to send a secondary claim to Medicare on paper, due to ERA glitches, etc.

Thank you so much.
