I need help with what I should charge a provider, specialty is counseling, she see 15 patients a week. Provider said she have not been paid since the summer, she is using Office Ally and they told her everything is ok on their side. I told her the claims need to be follow up on, to find out why they have been denied and the re-submit. What and how should I charge her? She need assisitance with A/R follow-up and to show her the billing process. I just need a ballpark estimate.
Thanks

Where are you located? What is providers license? (psy, LCSW, MD...etc)

I am in NC, the specialty is mental health.

In this case I think I would go with an hourly rate. It's hard to tell how much work is going to be involved. She is really looking for consulting help. Charge for consulting, not an hourly employee rate. She's paying for your expertise.

Does anyone know the average range pay per hour for billers working in an office setting?

We usually start new employees out at $8 - $12 per hour, depending on their experience. (Billing people, not management) If they have a lot of experience and are requesting more we may consider higher depending on the need we have. We are in a fairly rural area and $8 - $12 is decent.
